Neurocritical Care
Northwestern Memorial Hospital has a dedicated 23 bed Neuro-ICU. The Neuro-ICU
cares for patients with brain hemorrhage, spinal cord injury, ischemic
stroke, and patients with neurologic disease who require life support and hemodynamic
stabilization. Critical care faculty include fellowship trained intensivists
board-certified in neurocritical care and anesthesia critical care.
The multi-disciplinary neurocritical care team includes housestaff from neurology, neurological surgery and anesthesiology, fellows from neurology and anesthesiology, pharmacists, medical students, nurses, and others. Two teams round daily. There are outstanding collaborations with neurological surgery, anesthesiology and neuroradiology. Multiple active clinical research programs complement the bedside care.
