Our residency program attracts compassionate, dedicated and personable individuals.
Residency can be an intense and demanding time. Because quality of life is important, we strive to create a supportive atmosphere to help you find your perfect work/life balance. We encourage you to become the best clinician you can be while still finding time to relax and enjoy time with family and friends.
Home in Chicago
Northwestern’s location in downtown Chicago is an important plus of the program. With a population of seven million, the city is the cultural, commercial and industrial center of the Midwest. The city offers a wealth of cultural, recreational and entertainment opportunities. Chicago is also significantly more affordable than comparable cities, which results in a higher standard of living for our residents.
Most residents live within walking distance of the hospital in Streeterville, River North or the Loop neighborhoods. However, there are also residents who commute from surrounding neighborhoods as well. Around a quarter of residents come from the Chicagoland area, with the remainder from all over the country.
